  • December 2000 - FMW's Vice-Chair Zubeda Vahed went to Guyana to lead a workshop on community development. The National Committee of Sister Affairs (NACOSA), the women's wing of the Central Islamic Organization of Guyana (CIOG), requested FMW's assistance in setting up a long term strategy for their organization. FMW received funds to cover travel expenses through the Canadian Hunger Foundation - Partners in Rural Development, Ottawa. Vahed's trip composed of three stages: training participants, participants implementing a proposal for bettering their communities and further training of participants in specific identified areas. FMW also raised $700 for children's resources and for use in the Children's Islamic Play School.

  • May 1999 - FMW raises $20, 000 in cash donations for Kosovar refugees. $10, 965.02 was also raised to purchase medicines from Novophram Pharmaceuticals. Novophram provided an additional $5, 482.55 in donated medicine. Donated items were collected, loaded and shipped by volunteers. The container was received by FMW's Chair Mariam Bhabha and an FMW member who distributed the contents to the returning and remaining refugees. By July 22, 1999, all donated items were distributed in small villages and central Kosova. This endeavor drew the attention of the Toronto Star and CITY-TV.
